In academic setting, writing is one of the four skills of English. The fourth of basic skill of English become unit in English or in other language . In other word writing is one of the basic skills of English that should taugh by students to mastering in English writing, especially in English writing paragraph. Alice Oshima stated that paragraph is a basic unit of organization in writing in which a group of related sentences develops one main idea. Therefore, learners have to have high motivation in learning it. One of the ways to create the students’ motivation to learn English is by using the best technique. Scramble sentence technique is a technique that can be applied in writing class.
Based on the above, there are two research problems in this research. The first "Are there any effects the scramble sentence technique on students writing paragraph at the seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan?" the second is "How is the significance of scramble sentence technique influence on students writing paragraph at the seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan?".This research is conducted to find out the effect of scramble sentence technique on students writing paragraph at the seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 pamekasan and to know how is the significance of scramble sentence technique on students writing paragraph at the seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 pamekasan.
The population of this research is the students at seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan containing 20 students. The researcher takes all population as the target of research. The research instruments that are used in this research are test, observation and documentation. The researcher collected the data from 01-08 May. This research used quantitative approach and the kind of this research was pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. Data analysis technique that researcher used was statistical analysis; the statistical formula which was used was t-test formula.
The result of this research shows that there is an effect of using scramble sentence technique on students English writing paragraph at the seventh grade of SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan. It is proven by the higher of value of "t" _0 (6,203) than the value of "t" _t (2,09). It also proves that the significant effect of scramble sentence technique on students English writing paragraph is 95% bacause the value of "t" _0 is higher than the value of "t" _t in significant level of 95%
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English teacher to use of scramble sentence technique in teaching English writing especially in teaching writing paragraph in order the students understand the language more easily. The teacher also should be more creative to create the best technique in teaching English in order the students have motivation and more interested in learning English.
